Classes of Remote Gaming Licences

Remote Gaming Regulations are based on a simple principle: Any concept using a means of electronic communication in which, one or more players pay to participate to win a prize, is licensable. The Remote Gaming Regulations categorises these concepts under four different types of Classes of Licences.

Class 1 – Casino Style Games, Lotteries, Slots

Risk taking on repetitive games generated by random events – For operators managing their own risk on repetitive games. This class covers casino-type games, skill games and online lotteries.

Class 2 – Sports Betting

Risk taking by creating a market and backing that market – For operators managing their own risk on events based on a matchbook. Under this class falls fixed odds betting, pool betting and spread betting.

Class 3 – P2P, Betting Exchanges, Skins, Tournaments, Bingo

Operators do not partake in the risk and receive a commission – For operators taking a commission from promoting and / or betting games. This class includes P2P, poker networks, betting exchange and game portals.

Class 4 – Provides a remote gaming system to another licensee (host)

To host and manage remote gaming operators, excluding the licensee itself. This is intended for software vendors who want to provide management and hosting facilities on their platform.

All the above licences are granted for a period of five (5) years and may be renewed thereafter for periods of five (5) years.
