Malta Identified as Low-Tax Jurisdiction

MEDIA ROOM

Malta was identified as one of the low-tax jurisdiction for transfer pricing rules. The Ukraine Cabinet of Ministers in late December 2013 approved a resolution identifying jurisdictions where the corporate income tax rate is five or more percentage points less than the rate applied in Ukraine.

The list of countries (that contains 73 jurisdictions) is to be used in identifying which “controlled transactions” between Ukrainian taxpayers and foreign entities are subject to the transfer pricing rules. Transfer pricing rules in Ukraine were first effective 1 September 2013. This was recently reported by Intax Group.

Low-tax jurisdictions

Among the jurisdictions identified in the resolution as “low-tax jurisdictions” are the following countries:

  • Malta
  • Cyprus
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Ireland
  • Singapore
  • Switzerland
