CSB Group has a strong commitment to charitable fundraising and Corporate Social Responsibility, and this is deeply ingrained in the company's culture. Throughout the year, various initiatives are organised by CSB’s social committee to raise funds, however, the main event takes place during the Christmas season when employees forego exchanging gifts and instead focus on raising funds. This tradition has been followed for years and has resulted in significant contributions to various worthy causes. The generosity of the Group's Directors is evident in their commitment to match the funds raised by the staff threefold, resulting in a substantial and meaningful donation.
One of the charitable institutions chosen by the Group is Dar Merhba Bik, a foundation which provides support to women and children who have suffered from various forms of domestic violence, including emotional, physical, sexual, and financial abuse. The aim is to help these individuals rebuild their self-esteem and prepare for reintegration into society, leading to a more independent and dignified life. The foundation operates at two levels: Dar Merhba Bik, which can accommodate up to 14 women and children for a maximum of six months, and Dar Santa Backhita, a shelter which hosts up to three families at a time. A monetary donation was presented to Ms Elaine Vassallo Pavia, Head of Services at Dar Merhba Bik Foundation.
Proceeds from the same initiative were also presented to the Malta Hospice Movement and The Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The Malta Hospice Movement is a voluntary organisation providing the highest possible standards of palliative care to improve patients` quality of life and to support their families. Hospice Malta offers its services free-of-charge – including homecare, respite care, day therapy and hydrotherapy, patient transport, loan of equipment, and hospital support, amongst others – through a professional multidisciplinary team along with the support of dedicated volunteers. According to the NGO, more than 1,300 patients require palliative care each year. On the other hand, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta is one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilisation and is active in 120 countries, caring for people in need and running a number of medical, social and humanitarian projects, one of them being the ministering to the sick and disabled while on Pilgrimage at Lourdes.
CSB Group expresses its gratitude to organisations that provide invaluable support to the local community, and welcomes anyone interested in supporting these causes to visit their websites: darmerhbabik.org, hospicemalta.org, and orderofmalta.mt.
