About Edward
Dr Edward Meli joined in September 2020 and is CSB Group's Senior Associate and Manager - Legal & Maritime.
In this role, Edward leads the Corporate and Commercial law department together with the Yachting and Shipping team here at CSB Group. His work within the Corporate and Commercial department consists of drafting and reviewing of various corporate legal instruments as may be required by our clients to ensure the smooth running of their operations in a legally sound manner in terms of Maltese law and advising clients on corporate matters relating to company incorporation, corporate restructuring and insolvency proceedings amongst others. Within the Yachting and Shipping team, together with his team, he is continuously involved in various client work consisting of yacht and ship registrations, importation and leasing of yachts, yacht sale and purchases, and other ancillary sectoral matters. In addition, Edward has also been entrusted with assignments and roles covering gaming law and merger and acquisition transactions.
Education
Dr Edward Meli attended the University of Malta, where he obtained his Master of Advocacy Degree in 2017, having successfully completed his Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) Degree in 2016.
He proceeded to obtain an LL.M in International Business Law from King’s College London in 2018, wherein Edward focused his studies on corporate and commercial and shipping law, with studies in international trade and shipping law, transnational maritime law, transnational and comparative corporate law and corporate governance, legal negotiation, and business and human rights law. Edward’s heightened passion for maritime law is further evidenced through his thesis tackling ‘The Bunkering Trade and the Implications of the Res Cogitans Decision’.
Experience
Edward has been an active legal professional since 2016 having entered into this field as a trainee with a highly respected corporate and maritime law firm. His career experience has, from the start, been fuelled by his appetite for commercial and maritime law. In this respect, with years of experience, Edward has been in¬volved in various tasks assisting and advising clients on a wide array of matters stemming from general corporate and commercial law to shipping and yachting law.

Edward is admitted to the Maltese Bar, Superior Courts of Malta. He is also a member of the Malta Maritime Law Association.
