Malta Financial Services Operators the Most Optimistic in Europe


A survey held by the EU throughout the Eurozone showed a high level of optimism with regards to consumer sentiment in Malta. Malta achieved the highest consumer sentiment in the Eurozone for the 11th consecutive month with an index of 118, 18% higher than the Eurozone average. The consumer sentiment index is a statistical measurement as well as an indicator of economic health as perceived by consumers.

The government received the statistics very positively and noted that the Maltese respondents showed optimism towards practically every sector in the economy, particularly the retail and construction sectors. These two sectors have been achieving the highest scores ever since the survey started being held. In addition, financial services operators in Malta were the most optimistic throughout the eurozone.

Whilst acknowledging the numbers with satisfaction, the government is confident that there remains much potential to be yet exploited and revealed that in the coming weeks, further initiatives aimed at boosting businesses and families will be announced.
