Online Gambling Firms Receive EC Assurance

Malta is one of the European Union’s (EU) top online gambling jurisdictions, online gaming just received a big boost when the European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services Charlie McCreevy just praised the Malta Gaming Authority for it’s professionalism.

Most importantly Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has just received assurances from Charlie McCreevy, the head of the European Commission’s Internal Market and Services division, that he is determined to enforce EU law, that gives EU-based online poker and internet gambling operators the free movement of goods and services between the EU member countries.

This will be very nice music to the ears of the many online gambling and online poker operators and could be great news for online gambling stock owners. Currently EU online gambling and online poker firms are being restricted from access to a number of European Union countries.

The European Court of Justice classifies online gaming as a service covered by the laws and principles of the EU’s commitment to freedom of movement of services.

Malta’s online gambling and online poker firms employ over 1000 people in it’s online gambling and online poker industry.

So who will get a big advantage with a totally open EU online gambling market?

Well, all EU licensed online gambling firms like Cryptologic, William Hill, Playtech, etc.

So it might just be the right time to invest in online gambling stocks like CryptoLogic Limited (CRYP),, Playtech (PTEC.L), 888 HoldingsS (888.L). Cryptologic (CRYP) was voted the world’s best online casino software in 2006 and 2007 and has just signed four new licenses including! Playtech has become the world’s 3 largest online poker network last month, and will soon get the huge advantage of having Cryptologic award winning casino games on it’s online gambling site.

Other gaming stocks to take a look at could be Partygaming (PRTY.L), and William Hill (WMH.L).

One thing is for sure – it is going to be some very interesting months to come.
