CSB Group

Compliance Support Officer

CSB Group (est. 1987) provides a broad range of corporate, trust and fiduciary and business advisory services. As part of the continued strengthening of our Compliance Function, we are seeking to recruit a Compliance Support Officer to support the delivery of a robust, inspection-ready compliance framework across the Group’s regulated and non-regulated activities.

This role is compliance-led, with AML/CFT responsibilities forming an important but clearly defined component of a wider compliance remit. It is therefore particularly well-suited to candidates with experience in CSP, trustee or regulated corporate services environments, who wish to develop further as all-round compliance professionals.

The position reports to the Head of Compliance and works closely with the wider Compliance and AML/CFT functions.

Role Purpose:

The Compliance Support Officer will support the Compliance Function in ensuring that the Group operates in line with all applicable regulatory, statutory and internal requirements. The role focuses primarily on general regulatory compliance, governance oversight, compliance monitoring and reporting, while also supporting AML/CFT activities in coordination with the MLRO.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
A. General Compliance

The Compliance Support Officer will primarily be responsible for supporting general compliance activities, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting the Compliance Function in overseeing compliance with the Company Service Providers Act and Rulebook, Trusts and Trustees Act, MFSA rules and guidance, data protection requirements and other applicable regulatory frameworks;
  • Assisting with the planning, execution and documentation of activities under the Compliance Monitoring Programme, including thematic reviews, file testing, walkthroughs and control assessments;
  • Supporting the review and challenge of client onboarding and acceptance processes from a regulatory and governance perspective, ensuring adherence to internal policies, procedures and risk appetite frameworks;
  • Assisting with the ongoing monitoring and periodic review of existing clients, structures, trusts and fiduciary arrangements to ensure continued alignment with regulatory and internal compliance requirements;
  • Supporting the preparation, maintenance and quality of Board-level and management compliance reporting, including tracking of findings, remedial actions and escalations;
  • Assisting in maintaining accurate and up-to-date compliance registers, logs and records;
  • Supporting regulatory horizon scanning and monitoring of developments issued by competent authorities, with timely escalation of relevant updates to the Head of Compliance;
  • Assisting with the development, implementation and periodic review of compliance policies, procedures and internal controls, ensuring they remain aligned with evolving regulatory expectations and the Group’s governance framework;
  • Providing compliance guidance and support to operational teams on regulatory and internal compliance matters, while ensuring appropriate escalation where required.
B. AML/CFT Support

In addition to the above, the role will include involvement in AML/CFT-related activities, such as:

  • Supporting the review of AML/CFT documentation produced during onboarding and ongoing monitoring (e.g. CDD, customer risk assessments, source of wealth/funds narratives), from a procedural and control effectiveness perspective;
  • Assisting with the testing of AML/CFT controls as part of the Compliance Monitoring Programme, including documenting findings and tracking remediation actions;
  • Supporting the maintenance of AML/CFT records, logs and reporting outputs, in coordination with the MLRO;
  • Assisting with AML/CFT-related training and awareness initiatives, where required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a general compliance, regulatory or governance role, ideally within a Corporate Services Provider, trustee, fiduciary or regulated professional services environment;
  • Exposure to AML/CFT matters is required, however candidates whose experience is exclusively AML-focused without broader compliance or regulatory oversight experience may be less suited to the role;
  • A working knowledge of general compliance frameworks, particularly those applicable to CSPs and trustee activities, together with familiarity with AML/CFT obligations and MFSA guidance;
  • Strong analytical and critical review skills, with the ability to assess compliance risks, controls and documentation across different business lines;
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple compliance activities while maintaining clear audit trails;
  • Ability to work with a degree of autonomy within a structured Compliance Function, understanding the importance of independence, escalation and regulatory accountability;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Professional qualifications or certifications in Compliance, Governance, AML/CFT or Risk Management will be considered an asset.
