As this month we celebrate Movember, CSB Group announces its support for the newly established Malta Male Cancer Support Association. This voluntary organisation is on a mission to provide much-needed assistance to male cancer patients in Malta, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
November, commonly referred to as Movember, is a dedicated month for raising awareness about male-specific health concerns. It focuses on important issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health challenges, and suicide prevention, all under the umbrella of Men's Health Awareness.
The inception of this newly established association can be traced back to January 1, 2013, with the launch of the Facebook page titled 'Malta Male Cancer Awareness.' Its primary mission was to cultivate awareness about cancer among males. Subsequently, the page ceased its activities. Approximately a year ago, the original founder and several individuals closely associated with male cancer causes took the initiative to formalise their efforts. Consequently, they established an association, and just last month, they successfully drafted the constitution for the Malta Male Cancer Support Association.
The Association's core purposes revolve around creating a supportive environment for male cancer patients and their families, providing comprehensive information and guidance with a commitment to holistic and sustainable services. It also emphasises public awareness and education regarding male cancers, especially in terms of prevention and available care. Furthermore, the Association fosters the exchange of ideas and mutual learning among its members and associates, serving as a platform for discussions and the sharing of best practices, both nationally and internationally. It plays an active role in organising national and international events and engages in project development and support to raise funds for the Association's initiatives. In addition, it promotes research, studies, and publications that align with its mission and advocates for continuous training for members and practitioners in the field of cancer treatments and research. Finally, the Association stands ready to provide services and assistance to male cancer patients and their relatives in areas closely related to its objectives.
CSB Group has played an important role in assisting this organisation in the process of registering as a Voluntary Organisation, with the Office for the Commissioner of Voluntary Organisations (OCVO) and the Malta Business Registry (MBR). This kind of initiative is a testament to the power of the private sector and voluntary organisations working together for the betterment of the community.
CSB Group believes in the importance of giving back to the community and supporting initiatives that make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals facing significant challenges.
